ANDREW TEAGUE - Organist and Master of Choristers

Andrew is well known to Canadian audiences, especially in Ottawa, as a result of his time as Organist & Choirmaster at St Matthew's Anglican Church in Ottawa during the early nineties. On returning to the UK in 1994 to take up the post of Director of Music at St Elphin's School, he also became Organist & Choirmaster at St Peter's Church in Nottingham. In January 2003 he was appointed Organist and Master of the Choristers at Bradford Cathedral, and in conjunction with this he continues his work as an Examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (recent tours to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan) and also as an Education Team Leader for the Royal School of Church Music. Originally trained at Oxford and Cambridge universities, he has also held organists posts in Brighton and Oxford. Since 1994 he has also been an Associate Director of the Anglican Chorale of Ottawa, a group he founded.

DAVID CONDRY - Assistant Director of Music

David Condry has been Assistant Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral since September 2009. Previously, David was a Songman at York Minster and was involved at Bradford Cathedral as a vocal tutor and music associate. David comes from a musical family and moved to Yorkshire from his native Surrey in 2001 to study music at Leeds University, graduating in 2004. Whilst at University, David was a Choral Scholar at Leeds Parish Church and held the University Edward Boyle Choral Scholarship. David's work at the Cathedral involves assisting the Organist and Master of the Choristers with the day to day training of the Cathedral Choir, conducting the Choir and  playing the organ for services. David is also responsible for the Choir recruitment policy and its implementation.

In addition to his work at the Cathedral, David is very active as a singer and continues to sing with other northern cathedral choirs when time allows. In this capacity, David has been involved in a large number of radio and television broadcasts and commercial recordings. David is also in demand as a soloist and made his operatic role debut in 2009. David continues to study with Iestyn Davies. David is also a singing teacher and works at Hipperholme Grammar School where he is also Director of Choral Music. David founded the boys choir there in 2008 which has been very successful and is now a SATB choir in its own right.

As a conductor, David is Musical Director of Morley Music Society, a post he has held since 2005. David is also the Director of the Ecclesia Ensemble, a semi-professional chamber choir based in Leeds. The choir has given performances of a wide variety of music including pieces as diverse as Rachmaninoff's Vespers  and the Western Wynde Mass by John Taverner. The choir are now in a position to be working with well known period instrument orchestras and are planning an 'authentic style' performance of Messiah for Christmas 2010.

PAUL BOWEN -Assistant Organist

Paul Bowen is a Yorkshireman, and developed a keen interest in the organ when in his teens he was a regular attender at recitals in York Minster. During his time as an undergraduate at the University of Leeds, where he
read mathematics and operational research, he served as organ scholar at Leeds Parish Church, as well as being the Edward Boyle Organ Scholar in the University of Leeds. Paul was appointed Assistant Organist in Bradford Cathedral in January 2004, and prior to that he served as Second Assistant Organist for three years. Paul’s main duty is to play the organ for the majority of the services in the cathedral, as well as giving regular recitals at the cathedral’s prestigious lunchtime series.

As part of his work with the choir, Paul has played in an ever increasing number of cathedrals in the UK, as well as accompanying the choir on its momentous tour to the eastern shores of Canada in 2005, and the funeral of Sharon Beshenivsky which was broadcast live worldwide on Sky News and BBC News 24. In 2008, Paul accompanied the choir on its tour to Southern Germany, and also performed the Whitlock Sonata for Organ at the cathedral in September 2008. Paul was also privileged to perform Messiaen’s La Nativite Du Seigneur, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Messiaen’s birth, on 10th December 2008. This recital will be repeated at an event at the cathedral in December 2009.

Paul holds an MMus in Organ Performance from the University of Leeds, where he studied with Graham Barber and Simon Lindley.

Paul, together with his wife Dawn (who plays the clarinet) was delighted to give the world premiere performance of a major work for organ and clarinet entitled "Name-Play," composed by Paul Fisher in 2004, at a lunchtime recital in the cathedral in November 2005. Additionally, Paul has given first performances of many other works composed by Paul Fisher, including the Scherzo for Organ, and Variations on Happy Birthday.
