DIRECTIONS TO BRADFORD
CATHEDRAL
There have been considerable
changes to the roads within the city centre and it is not advisable to
try and access the Cathedral other than off the A650 Shipley Airedale
Road.
From M62 east or west
exit at J26 onto the M606 to the very end (about three miles).
At the end of the
M606 turn right taking the A6177 Rooley Lane (east). Depending on traffic,
you are only about five minutes away from the Cathedral.
At the first roundabout
continue ahead remaining on the A6177, passing ASDA, McDonald's and the
Yorkshire Building Society. Stay in the left lane.
At the next roundabout
take the first exit left and down onto the A650 Wakefield Road signposted
City Centre, Keighley and Skipton. Move into the middle lane.
At the first roundabout
go straight over (HSS hire shop to your right).
At the second roundabout
go straight over again (City Electrical Factors on right).
As this road goes
down the hill, follow it round to the right (you're now in the left hand
lane) staying on the A650 Airedale/Shipley Road. You will also see signs
for Saltaire Mill, Shipley and Keighley. Cineworld and Pizza Hut are on
your left, Yorkshire Building Society to the right.
Go through several
sets of lights quite close together before the road begins to climb and
bend left. Stay in the inside lane. (If coming from Leeds on the A647
turn right onto the A650 at these lights).
After about three
hundred yards you will come to another set of traffic lights, signposted
The Cathedral and Little Germany to your left. Turn left at these lights
on Barkerend Road, ignoring the Access Only signs. Coming down you hill
you will see the Cathedral in front of you to the right. Just before the
bollards for the bus gate swing right into Stott Hill and the Cathedral
is on your left.
From Leeds on B6381/Harrogate
A658 at the traffic lights onto the A650 Shipley Airedale Road go straight
over and down Barkerend Road as above.
From Shipley/Saltaire
it is easier to come in on the A6037/650. At the lights over Barkerend
Road, although the Cathedral is on your right, you must turn left and
go round the roundabout before going straight over the junction again
as above.
Parking
There is no parking
within the Cathedral Close but there is a free car park behind the Cathedral
Halls on your right. Take the first right into Jermyn Street and then
right again into the car park.
You can also park
anytime in Jermyn Street as there are no restrictions.
In the evenings and
on a Sunday there is free on-street around the Cathedral.
There are other car
parks in the city, follow the signs. The nearest is on Burnett Street
- as you come down Barkerend Road turn left into the Little Germany area
onto Peckover Street and then second left as signposted to the Burnett
Street car park. Council charges apply.
